Tips for making figures with flowers

Today on La Violetera's blog, I want to share my process for creating figures with flowers.

It's an art form that has always caught my attention since I discovered it on Pinterest. Flora Forager's art on Instagram is also beautiful, and it feels so creative to me, like bringing something from your imagination to life with foliage, petals, and flowers.

I'm sharing some tips for creating this art. It's not at all necessary to know how to draw or anything like that; you just need imagination, patience, and a love for flowers and nature.

MATERIALS

You don't really need much to get started.

What I used was the following:

-Cardstock in various shades

-Scissors

-Tape or washi tape

-A pencil

-Flowers and foliage. In my case, I used a lot of lisianthus, a tulip, mini roses, a small piece of hydrangea, statice, and foliage, which I cut from a bush outside the flower shop. You can work with whatever you have at home!

PROCESS

I recommend finding a place with good lighting. Find a comfortable position and let your creativity flow. There are many things you can create. In my case, I thought of a bicycle. The wheels could be mini roses, right? It could also have a basket. I cut some foliage and carefully assembled it. It's a process that requires a lot of patience and love for art and flowers.

Something that helped me here was lightly sketching the outlines for the pedals and other parts with a pencil, which made it easier.

Here I also share the process of another composition.

I wanted to build a little house, and I used a pink lisianthus as the roof. Then, with the lisianthus stems, I built the house structure. With the leaves from the same foliage, I shaped the house door with scissors. I used the tulip as a kind of tree and the craspedia as the sun. I used white statice as a cloud, and clouds can also be created with mini roses or lace.

In editing, using Lightroom, I changed the color of the cardstock to a purple tone.

Using the same flowers and foliage, I made a butterfly. I shaped everything with scissors and added statice and hydrangea for details.

Using one of La Violetera's boxes, I made this cloud with mini roses and used hydrangeas for the raindrops.

If you have items like teapots or ceramic pieces that can be included in your compositions, feel free to experiment with them!

You can use books, boxes, cups, small plates, etc.
